Saying Goodbye to Home

So today began like everyday in Beijing. A sweet "hello mommy", showers, breakfast, and we were ready to be off. The only thing in the city that we didn't get to was the lama temple. We headed for the subway (the temple is really close). We paid our 6 RMB and headed down into the tube. Right as the train was coming in Jack had a look on his face that was heart breaking. He was holding his side and had tears in his eyes. We quickly realize the temple was not going to happen. We picked Jack up and booked it back to the hostel.

He hit the bathroom the second we got to the room. I think he has been brushing his teeth with the faucet water. Epic parent fail #2. #1 was at the zoo when we let him fall flat on his face. I am surprised they haven't asked for him back yet at the rate we are going.

Then we laid on the bed and watched a movie, followed by lunch, a little shopping, and Harry Potter in the afternoon.

Ping picked us up for dinner and we treated his family to a meal. What a treat for us. We came to Beijing knowing no one, honesty dreading it, and we are leaving it with the most amazing son and greatest new friends anyone could ask for.

For the last 10 years Jack has called an orphanage near the 6th ring road home. It had been his everything. In a few hours we will take the train to Guangzhou and then a plane home. His world is about to be turned upside down and he seems to be facing it with a fearless spirit. He so remind me of Isaac when he came home.

If you had told us a month ago that not only would we like Beijing, we would love it, I would have laughed in your face. Instead my husband is watching YouTube on how to speak Chinese and we are already dreaming of coming back in a few years with Isaac and Greta.

We are truly sad to say goodbye to this beautiful city and it's people but are so blessed to be taking its very heart back with us.

Goodbye Beijing.
