He Needs A Family...

Hey all... So here's the deal. I'm a bit of dreamer and at times I'm a bit manic. I am constantly running. My mum likes to point out that I have been running at full steam since college.

During college I worked full-time and carried a 20 credit course load each semester.

In Grad school, I worked full-time, completed multiple internships, graduated top of my class, with a full time gig waiting for me after graduation.

In my career I have been blessed beyond belief with pretty much constant work. I have had lazer eye surgery, another surgery, and adopted my son from Liberia.

Then he had surgery (you all know how that turned out), spent months in the hospital with him (while working full-time), then 9 months of PT/Rehab for him, while trying to get him caught up in school, learn how to walk again all while working full time.

Then we moved to PA, I fell in love, got engaged, started leading teams to Haiti, Isaac had yet another surgery, have a job in another state, (which I commute too), decided on a career change (I'm a professor at Drexel University in the fall), and planning a wedding.

My mum tells me I need to slow down and spend a solid year doing NOTHING! Well we all know that isn't going to happen. I can't sit still, I can't sit back and do nothing. I can't sit back and not try to change things.

So I need your help. In my manic-ness I started researching another adoption (much to the surprise of my fiance.) I keep forgetting it not just me anymore, that there is someone else I need to ask first (I'm working on this!)

Anyways, I came across a little boy in China. He is a darling four year old boy who is quite short and walks with a stoop due to what was described as a deformed spine. It is difficult for him to walk, but he gets around despite the pain. He also has hepatitis B. Despite his spinal condition, he tries hard to do his exercises. He has average development. He knows his colors and sings children’s songs. He likes to play with blocks and toys. He eats and sleeps well, and is fully toilet trained.

He is described as being introverted and scared of strangers. He lives with a large group of children and does well with them. He becomes particularly attached to those who treat him well. He is affectionate but, like most four year olds, he can occasionally be stubborn. He can say “bye bye” in English.

His caretaker said that this little guy told her; ”All the other children leave to be adopted and I want to be adopted too”.

He is Isaac to a "T". Everything that was wrong with Isaac is what's wrong with this little boy. Now of course I have called the agency and told them my situation. To be honest there isn't a more perfect family for that little boy than with us. We know him (having never met him), he is Isaac. BUT we don't qualify because we haven't been married long enough and I am too young. Chinese law states that no one (not even the Chinese) can adopt under the age of 30. Which means we would not be able to even start the process for another year (if we felt we were ready and could do it.)

Well this little guy needs a family RIGHT NOW! He needs a family to call his own. He needs a mom and dad who are going to cry with him, pray with him, and hold his hand when he gets his back fixed. He needs a family that is going to stick by him no matter what the outcome of that surgery. He needs a mum who is going to be a "bit Manic" for him.

The agency has said that very few people have shown interest in this little boy. I told them that the same thing happened with Isaac. No one wanted him till I came along and naive as I may have been, I have NEVER had a single moment of regret.

The application fee is waived and there may be a grant available to help with the adoption cost (oh and don't forget the $12,000 adoption tax credit!)

If you are interested in adopting this little boy, you have been married for at least a year, and are over the age of 30, please contact me.
